Vaping and Smiling
If you've finally switched to vaping after years of being a cigarette smoker, congratulations! You have many reasons to feel good about yourself. After all, we're all aware of the negative effects that cigarette smoke can have on a person's health.
One of the most common questions regarding switching to vaping is how it will affect the appearance of a person's teeth. We know that cigarette smoke can turn those pearly whites an unsightly yellow hue. So, does vaping cause the teeth to turn yellow as well?
Does Vaping Stain Your Teeth Like Cigarettes?
The Tar Factor
To the relief of vapers around the world, e-liquid vapor doesn't ruin the appearance of one's teeth in the way that cigarette smoke does. The chemical in tobacco that causes the teeth to be coated in that dark, opaque yellow film is tar. Besides turning the teeth yellow, tar can damage the lungs beyond repair, causing their cells to die off in high numbers over time.
If you've ever stepped inside the home of someone who smokes a lot of cigarettes indoors, you may have noticed that their walls have a yellow tinge. This is caused by the tar in tobacco. The same tar that coats these walls ends up covering the teeth, resulting in that unattractive smile that heavy smokers can develop after years of exposure to cigarette smoke.
Of course, vape juices don't contain any tar. Therefore, you won't have to worry about staining your teeth due to exposure to this toxic chemical.
Nicotine
Even though vape juice doesn't contain tar, you still might notice a very subtle yellow tinge to your teeth if you vape large quantities of e-liquid that are high in nicotine. Although nicotine is a colorless chemical, it can become yellow when it interacts with oxygen. However, you can prevent this by vaping an e-liquid that's very low in nicotine. You can even find e-liquids that contain no nicotine at all.
How to Keep Your Teeth Pearly White as a Vaper
Besides switching to a low-nicotine or nicotine-free vape juice, there are some ways that you can keep those pearly whites gleaming. If you're a vape enthusiast who is concerned about the appearance of your teeth, simply stay on top of your dental hygiene routine. Make sure that you brush at least twice each day. Of course, you can also find many different whitening products that are highly effective and relatively affordable.
If you crave high-nicotine vape juice but don't want to risk altering the appearance of your teeth, consider cutting back on how much you vape each day. This way, you won't be exposing your teeth to so much nicotine daily, allowing the saliva in your mouth to naturally wash away any of the lingering nicotine that's on your teeth.
Keep on Vaping
It's relatively easy to maintain white teeth as a vaper. At the end of the day, vaping is much better for your dental health than smoking cigarettes.
