Pick One Already!
Vaping is a rapidly growing industry, with new websites and even brick and mortar vape stores popping up in locations all over the world! People pick up this hobby for many reasons, but most people share a common reason for vaping- they want to quit smoking cigarettes. The choice to quit can be a big one in a smoker’s life. After a certain point smoking just becomes a part of your identity, but there are negative consequences to the habit of smoking. Cancer, heart disease, increased risk for stroke, and tooth decay, just to name a few. Some people who pick up the hobby of vaping continue to smoke, though. This is a common mistake frequently made by people who are new to vaping and are still trying to wean themselves off cigarettes, but there are a multitude of reasons that you shouldn’t do this!
Vaping and smoking at the same time is also known as “dual using” and is common among people who are trying to quit cigarettes and are just discovering the vast, and sometimes confusing world of vaping. Users should try to avoid this behavior though, as it can cause some serious side effects. If you are smoking and vaping frequently you are more prone to experience a nicotine overdose, and although most cases are not serious (they typically only consist of a short period of time where the user feels nauseous and light headed,) some cases can be fatal.
Another reason that vapers should shy away from dual using is the risk of addiction or relapse. While vaping a vape juice with nicotine in it, your body is getting the nicotine that it craves due to addiction without the harmful chemicals found in cigarettes. When you smoke while vaping, you have a larger chance of relapsing completely to smoking only cigarettes, which increases your risk of health problems.
Also, vaping has been proven to be a safer alternative to cigarettes. According to a long-term study conducted by Cancer Research UK, long-term users who only used e-cigarettes had a lower level of carcinogens in their bodies than those that only smoked cigarettes or smoked both cigarettes and e-cigarettes. The levels of carcinogens in the vape-only group were over 97% lower than the other groups.
Lastly, vaping is a more cost-effective alternative to smoking and when you are doing both, you are spending double the money! Vaping is proven to be at least 40% cheaper than smoking if you are a pack a day smoker. Vape juices also come in a huge variety of different flavors ranging anywhere from tobacco to banana nut bread, and with a market like that, you will never get tired of the experience because you can switch it up whenever you want something new!
Rethinking the decision to dual use is a smart idea, and one that could have a lasting impact on the rest of your life. It is more cost-effective and better for your general well-being to stick to only one method of nicotine intake. You should weigh the pros and cons of each decision and decide what is right for you in the end, but I am confident that all of you will make the smarter choice by switching to a healthier vapor only lifestyle!
