Not All RDAs are Created Equally

If you’re ready to move from sub-ohm vaping to dripping or squonking, you’re going to need to invest in the proper RDA to handle all of your vaping needs.  Today, thanks to the popularity of this type of atomizer, there are literally hundreds of RDAs on the market from which to choose.  This can make things a bit confusing, especially to someone who isn’t quite familiar with the technology behind this piece of vaping hardware.

However, there’s no need to be intimidated.  We’re going to break down the main types of RDAs so that you can find the right one for your needs.  By the end of this article, you’ll know exactly what to look for when you’re going through the massive catalog of RDAs that are out there today.

What’s an RDA Anyway?

An RDA is a rebuildable dripping atomizer.  It was invented as an alternative to the standard vape tanks that are designed for sub-ohm vaping.  Generally speaking, RDAs are used for drippers and squonkers.  Because of their unique structural components, they allow the vaper to enjoy a stronger flavor and bigger, fluffier clouds.  RDAs are also unique in that they require that the user install their own coils in order for them to function properly.

A Guide to the Different Types of RDAs on the Market

Now that you know what it is, let’s explore the different types out there.

Standard Three Post RDA

First, we’ll discuss the standard three post RDA that was the first to hit the market.  A three post RDA consists of three posts, with one being positive and two being negative.  It’s perfect for single coil builds as it allows for easy installation.  It’s not ideal, however, for dual coil builds because of the inconvenience of the design.  This type of RDA seems to be the most popular among avid drippers.

BF (Bottom-Feeding) RDA

A BF RDA can have any number of posts, and what distinguishes it from the rest is that it’s intended for squonking.  This means that if you’re using a BF RDA, you must have a squonk mod that’s designed for this style of vaping.  It gets its name from the fact that it’s fed e-liquid from the juice bottle that’s located inside the mod.  When the user squeezes on the juice bottle, the e-liquid comes up and enters the coil through the bottom of the RDA.

Postless RDA

Postless RDAs are becoming more and more popular these days because of how much they allow the vaper to customize their experience further.  They allow for a great deal of freedom due to the extra room.  The user can explore a wider range of coil builds and configurations.  The only drawback is that it requires a bit more effort when it comes to installing the coil.

Two-Post Velocity RDA

A two-post velocity RDA is usually used by vapers who prefer building dual coals.  It possesses one negative post and one positive post and allows the user to easily install dual coils without any hassle.

Four-Post RDA

A four-post RDA features two negative posts and two positive posts.  It’s known for making it very easy for users to install dual coils because of the amount of space that it provides.

Adjustable Airflow RDA

While the first RDAs featured simple holes to promote airflow, newer models tend to boast different types of adjustable airflow mechanisms so that the user can modify their airflow level like never before.  The cyclops airflow is the most popular because of how easy it is to adjust.  However, there are other innovative designs that other vapers prefer more, such as the bottom-fed airflow style that has a positive effect on flavor.

Find the RDA that Meets Your Vaping Needs

As you can see, each type of RDA serves its own unique purpose and offers its own advantages and disadvantages.  Which one is right for you is simply a matter of personal preference. And, don’t forget that when choosing an RDA, you must make sure that you select one from a trusted company that’s known for their reliable hardware.
