Main Differences Between a Closed and Open Pod System

Thanks to the enormous variety of pod systems that are on the market today, those who decide that they are ready to invest in this type of device sure have their work cut out for them.  Now, vapers have to decide if they want a closed or open pod system while choosing which features are most important to them.  Another choice that the vaper must make is whether they wish to use a draw-activated device or one that uses a button to fire each hit.

When it comes to choosing between a draw-activated pod system and a button push pod system, there are many things to consider.  We’re going to break down the key differences between these two types of pod devices so that you can select the mod that’s best suited for your vaping needs.

Intensity of Each Puff

With a draw-activated system, you’re using the power of your breath to fire each hit.  Therefore, you have to rely on the strength of your lungs in order to get a pull that produces enough vapor to satisfy.  For many, this results in puffs that are not as intense.

A button push system tends to deliver stronger hits because you’re relying on the technology rather than your own breath to produce each pull.  The push of a button quickly heats up the coil, producing a good deal of vapor that quickly enters the mouth and lungs.

Firing Time

With a draw-activated system, the firing time is dependent on how hard you pull.  If you suck on the mouthpiece very hard, your firing time can be very quick.  However, less lung power will increase the firing time as the coil takes a few seconds to heat up to the proper temperature in order to turn your e-liquid into vapor.

A button-push pod system, on the other hand, tends to deliver instant firing time because the push of the button is what’s heating up the coil.  If you prefer a fast firing time, a button push pod system is obviously the way to go.  However, some people enjoy a more gradual firing experience that they can control with their own breath.

Ease of Use

A lot of newbie vapers prefer a draw-activated pod system because it’s easier to use than a button push pod system.  While button push pod systems aren’t necessarily complicated, draw-activated pod systems don’t require any buttons at all, making them more user-friendly on a technological level.  In fact, a good deal of vapers struggle with the coordination required to push the button and take a hit at the same time.

Similarity to Cigarettes

One of the biggest factors to consider when choosing a pod mod system is how much you want your vaping experience to mimic that of smoking a cigarette.  Unsurprisingly, many former smokers choose draw-activated pod systems because analog cigarettes are technically draw-activated.  This type of system allows the user to enjoy an experience that’s as close to smoking as possible.  It also allows them to control the stream of vapor by using their own breath.

It's All About Pod Preference

Whether you choose a draw-activated pod system, or a button push pod system is completely dependent on your unique vaping preferences.  No type of system is necessarily better than the other.  What’s most important is that whichever type of pod system you choose, make sure that it comes from a trusted manufacturer who creates reliable vaping hardware.
