Cold Weather Vape Sessions

We all know about the effects that cold weather has on our skin, our hair and even our state of mind. A large number of vape enthusiasts don't realize that cold weather can drastically alter their vaping experience as well. Once winter comes around, vapers need to make certain adjustments in order to ensure that they take care of their hardware and experience vaping satisfaction.

Your Battery Life

You might be shocked to learn that the battery of your vaping device loses about thirty percent of its capacity when it's exposed to the cold. This is because of the fact that the electrons that produce electricity move at a slower pace in cold weather. Therefore, it takes a lot more energy to power your device.

It's crucial that you keep your batteries warm in the winter. When your device is not in use, store it in a warm place like a pocket. Never leave your vaping device outdoors or in your car during the winter months. Lastly, always keep your battery charged in order to compensate for this reduction in capacity.

Your Vape Juice's Consistency

The freezing point of vape juice is lower than water due to the fact that both vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol are chemically similar to alcohol. Just like your bottle of vodka can remain a liquid in the freezer, your e-liquid will have a hard time freezing in the cold winter temperatures.

Still, cold weather is capable of changing the consistency of your juice. While it won’t freeze into a solid, it will become thicker and more viscous. This makes it more likely to gunk up your tank and your coils.

That's why it's important to store your bottles of juice and your tank in a warm place when not in use. Try not to keep your stash in your car during the winter months.

Also, it's wise to opt for a juice that's at least 50% propylene glycol (PG). Because this ingredient is thinner than vegetable glycerin (VG), it will help prevent your e-juice from getting too thick.

Your Throat Hit

If you're a mouth-to-lung (MTL) lover, we're sorry to inform you that your throat hit will likely be weaker during the winter months. That's because the cold weather reduces the heat that your vaping device is capable of producing. A high amount of heat is required to provide that hit to the throat that so many vapers crave.

Again, the key to preventing your throat hit from disappearing completely is keeping your device warm.

Your Lips

Many drip tips are made from materials that get very cold during the winter months. If you're someone who vapes outdoors, you're at risk of developing cracked, dry lips as a result of constantly pressing them against the cold drip tip material. That's why it's a good idea to keep your lips moisturized with a nourishing lip balm during the winter season.

Your Clouds

Because of the dry winter air, you may find that your clouds are larger. The lack of humidity prevents the clouds from dissipating as quickly, meaning that they’ll be fluffier and linger in the air for a longer period of time.

While many vapers find this to be a good thing, it's still important to be careful when vaping in the car. Clouds that are exceptionally thick and large can interfere with one's ability to see what's on the road ahead of them.

Vape in the Coldest of Conditions

These tips will help you maintain that pleasurable vaping lifestyle throughout those wintry months.
